54 poor patients receive surgery at Bashundhara Eye Hospital for free

Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute (BEHRI) conducted operations on 54 poor ophthalmic patients for free to return visions to them.

BEHRI, a healthcare venture of the country’s largest business conglomerate Bashundhara Group, conducted operation to 31 male and 23 female patients who hailed from Chapainawabganj.

Of them, 53 patients underwent operation for cataract problem and one for pterygium ailment.

 

Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute, Vision Care Foundation and Chikitsa Sahayata Kendra Chapainawabganj jointly organised a free medical camp and selected 122 patients for surgeries on June 3. Such camp was held at the Shah Neamatullah College in Chapainawabganj.

A number of 22 patients received operations in the first batch on June 9; 54 in the second batch on June 16; and 54 in the third batch on June 30 (Thursday).

Dr Moutushi Islam and Dr Rubina Akhter of BEHRI took part in the operations.

Earlier, on June 10, Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute conducted free eye surgeries on 22 impoverished patients who came from Tangail.

BEHRI, Vision Care Foundation and Rotary Club of Baridhara Sun Rise jointly organised the eye operation.

Hospital Manager Mohammad Ahsan Habib said around 1,400 patients have so far received free surgeries from the hospital.

 

He said BEHRI is also providing treatment to affluent patients in exchange for fees and relevant costs.
